Bel Ami closes restaurant; bar to remain open

Jeff Morgenthaler was the bar manager of Bel Ami in South Eugene before moving to Portland's Clyde Commons. Bel Ami shut its doors Monday, part of the Midtown Marketplace's response to the economy.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Bel Ami the restaurant is no more.

The high-end restaurant was one of several dining options in Eugene's Midtown Marketplace.

Midtown Marketplace management told KVAL News the move aims to deliver more breakfast and lunch options at lower pricepoints to better meet the demands of the economic recession.

The Bel Ami bar will remain open but with modified hours. New hours for the bar are until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday hours have yet to be determined.

Earlier reports that the restaurant and bar had closed were in error.
