Police ID man killed on I-5 by hit-and-run semi
State police investigated the death. Now they need your help locating the suspect vehicle. By KVAL.com StaffGRANTS PASS, Ore. -- A homeless man was hit and killed by a semi truck on Interstate 5 north of Grants Pass Wednesday night, and now state police need the public's help locating the vehicle and driver involved in the hit-and-run crash.
State police think they are looking for a 1995 to 2006 Freightliner truck of either the Argosy or Century model. The vehicle should have right front end damage, including a missing turn signal. Anyone with information regarding this investigation to help identify the involved vehicle and driver is asked to call OSP Southern Command Center dispatch at (541) 776-6111. Police learned of the accident at 7 a.m. Thursday morning with a report of a man's body on the northbound shoulder of I-5 near the Manzanita Rest Area. People at a nearby homeless camp told police they they heard something get hit by a passing vehicle around 10 p.m. Wednesday night but thought a deer had been hit. The suspect vehicle might look like one of the two following trucks. The color is not known.
