Hit-and-run driver gives boy $5 in hush money
Photo illustration By KVAL.com StaffMYRTLE CREEK, Ore. -- A driver who hit a teen boy with her car, knocking him up onto the hood and into the windshield, gave him $5 and asked him not to tell on her before fleeing the scene, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
The victim told a deputy he was walking down a city street around 6 p.m. Wednesday when a white Honda sedan with California plates hit him from behind, throwing him onto the car's hood and into the windshield before knocking him to the ground. The victim said the female driver got out of the car and handed him a five dollar bill, then asked him not to tell on her. The woman, believed to be in her 30s or 40s, got back into her car and drove away. The victim said he felt fine until about an hour after the incident when he began having severe pain in his back, tail bone and left knee. The victim was treated and released from the emergency room at Mercy Hospital, where deputies interviewed him about the accident. The sheriff is investigating the crash as a hit-and-run accident.
