Eugene man charged in attack on homeless men
By KVAL.com staffEUGENE, Ore. -- A Eugene man faces charges he attacked two homeless men on the Oregon Coast, causing a severe head injuries to one man and breaking the other man's leg. Sean Ryan Hennigar, 35, of Eugene, Ore., was arrested on suspicion of first degree assault by the Newport Police Department with the assistance of Eugene and Lane County law enfrocement. The case stems from a May 26 attack on two homeless men in their camp near the Nye Beach Turnaround. Kenneth Jones, 51, suffered a fractured knee and damaged ligaments to his right leg. Joshua Holmes, 29, suffered broken teeth and numerous facial fractures. The two were treated at hospitals in Newport and Corvallis and later released. Newport Police Detectives identified Hennigar as a suspect and tracked him to Eugene. The detectives arranged a meeting with him, although he was not aware he was meeting with the police. Police took Hennigar into custody without incident. Hennigar was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was booked on the charge of Assault 1, with bail set at $150,000.
