Eugene officer knocked out trying to make arrest
By KVAL.com staffEUGENE, Ore. -- A suspect fleeing a police "buy-bust" knocked a Eugene police officer to the ground, causing him to hit his head and lose consciousness, according to the Eugene Police Department. Officer Brian Hagen was treated and released from Sacred Heart at RiverBend after hitting his head on concrete trying to take a suspect into custody. The incident started as a "buy-bust," with police officers arranging to buy an item advertised for sale on Craigslist as part of an investigation into the theft of two purses around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Harris was travelling south on Kinsrow around 5:30 p.m. when the investigating officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Harris attempted to flee on foot, according to police. Police said Harris knocked a Eugene officer to the ground, causing the officer to hit his head on the concrete and lose consciousness. Police eventually took Harris into custody.
Police said they recovered the two stolen purses from the trunk of the car. Harris was arrested on suspicion of fourth degree assault, interfering with a peace officer, conspiracy to commit identity theft, conspiracy to fraudulently use a credit card and second degree theft. Lower was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit second degree theft, identity theft and fraudulent use of a credit car. |

Police said Kory Robert Kristopher Harris, 20, of Eugene had various items listed for sale on Craigslist. Police obtained his cell phone number from the site, then arranged a meeting. Harris provided the prospective buyer -- in this case, police -- with a description of his car.
Police also arrested Brittany Melissa Lowery, 18, of Eugene, who was in the car.
