Police plan to charge driver in crash
EUGENE, Ore. -- Police plan to charge the driver of a pickup truck that crashed early Wednesday, injuring a passenger in the cab and a passenger riding in the truck bed.
Police said Duane Alan Ward, 30, of Eugene, Ore., was behind the wheel of the truck that crashed at 1:16 a.m. on July 1 into the front lawn of 2790 Timberline Drive.

Police have charged him with Assault in the Third Degree for his role in the rollover crash. Police suspect Ward was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and additional charges are possible.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the truck upside down. Ward and his two passengers were taken to a local hospital.
Passenger Zane Alan Robson, 35, of Springfield, ore., was seated unrestrained in the rear passenger seat and was ejected during the crash. He sustained critical injuries.
The other passenger, Patricia Ann Collom, 39, of Eugene, Ore., was seated in the right front passenger seat and was wearing a seatbelt. She received non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
Ward, who was not wearing a seatbelt, had minor injuries.
