Fire damage to the Pathfinder School on the Kennedy Middle School campus

EUGENE, Ore. - There is a $500 reward in the investigation into an apparent arson fire at a Eugene school.

The fire did minor damage to the exterior of the Pathfinder School on the campus of Kennedy Middle School off Bailey Hill Road.

The fire is under investigation as arson.

Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call Det. Steve Williams with the Eugene Police at (541) 682-2682.

A passerby reported the fire in person at the nearby fire station around 10:16 p.m.

Firefighters responded and had the fire out within minutes.

The fire appears to have started in some wooden planks resting againt the side of a classroom.

The fire from the planks then spread to the classroom wall.

Steve Howard with the Eugene 4J School District said he found an empty 24-pack of beer cans littered about the area.

The damage is estimated at $1,000 and should be repaired within the week.
