Police grab suspect after armed robbery at animal hospital
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- A woman with a loaded 9mm handgun ignored orders from police officers to drop the weapon early Monday morning after an armed robbery at a veterinary hospital, telling officers "to just kill her," according to Springfield police.
An officer grabbed the woman from behind and took her to the ground. Police said she had a loaded 9mm handgun and a second loaded clip on the woman.
Police responed to the scene at 4:47 a.m. Monday to a report of an armed robbery in progress at the Emergency Veterinary Hospital, 103 West Q Street in Springfield, Ore.
As police arrived on scene, the woman was exiting the building and refused to raise her hands and surrender, according to police. An officer grabbed her from behind as she focused on another officer.
The three employees working at the time said the woman had entered the business and demanded cash, which they handed over after she displayed the firearm.
No one was injured.
Officers arrested Bridget Ronan McDermott-Mueske, 41, of Springfield, Ore., on suspicion of armed robbery.
