BOISE, Idaho - Police arrested a Boise man on suspicion of video voyeurism after witnesses say the man tried to take pictures up women's skirts in a business in downtown Boise, Idaho.

Authorities with Boise Police say they were called by two citizens to a business in downtown Boise at about 6:45 p.m. on Sunday.

Witnesses reported they had been in the business and saw a man hold a small camera beneath the skirts of two women. According to the witnesses, the women appeared to be unaware of the man's activity.

"The victims say they had no idea the suspect was behind them taking these pictures," said Lt. Alan Cavener, Boise Police Patrol Watch Commander. "Citizens have a reasonable expectation of some privacy when they're in public."

The witnesses told officers they approached the man in the business and asked him about using the camera, and the suspect walked away. The witnesses immediately called police.

With the witnesses description, officers found the suspect walking a short distance away. With the help of employees at the business, through business records, officers were able to get a name for one of the victim's, and eventually spoke with both women.

The women told officers if there was evidence of this crime, they wanted to press charges.

"This is a crime that's not reported very often," Cavener said. "But with today's technology, people should be aware that this type of activity can occur, it is a crime, and will be thoroughly investigated when reported."

Police arrested Paul E. Nichols, 54, Boise and charged him with video voyeurism.
