Slavic Festival

Slavic Festival
Eugene - It's a taste of the Slavic countries this weekend at the Lane County Fairgrounds.

It's the second year for the Slavic Festival, which started as a New Year's celebration for children. Organizers say the Eugene Slavic community is not very big, but it gives folks a chance to mingle and meet others within the area and learn about the culture.

"Russians who just moved here, Ukrainians and Polish who don't speak very much English and don't have that much communication and they're happy to come over to kind of socialize with them," says event organizer Olga Grecova.

You can learn about Slavic foods, drinks and arts and crafts. The festival continues Sunday at the Fairgrounds in the Performance Hall from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. It costs $5 for adults and children under 14 are free.
