CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The Oregon State University makes it clear it does not support a government that tells parents how many kids to have. However, a new study from OSU shows each child born in the United States leaves a large carbon footprint.
The research shows if parents have one less child, the positive impact on the environment is almost 20 times greater than other "green" life changes. That includes driving a high mileage car, recycling regularly or using energy-efficient appliances.
