'Kenny was an amazing person. He was a great father'

JUNCTION CITY, Ore - Sunny Murray will always remember her cousin Kenny Bowman.

"Kenny was an amazing person," Murrsay said. "He was a great father."

Bowman died in a head on collision along Highway 99W, just north of Junction City.

Bowman grew up in Monroe, Ore., just a few miles from were he died. He and Murray were born 7 months apart and grew up together.

She said he loved working on cars and the great outdoors. Just this week, their family was planning their annual camping trip for Labor Day.

She said Bowman would usually be the one getting the kids fired up on the trip. But now that he’s gone, she’s not sure they will go through with the excursion this year.

While she has very fond memories growing up with him, she said she wants his kids to remember him as a great father.

Three of Bowman’s four children were in the car with him at the time of the crash. They are now recovering at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Springfield.

Murray said the oldest of the three, Tanner, has multiple fractures, a dislocated hip and a concussion. Four-year-old Samuel has a fractured collar bone, and 18-month-old Amanda has two broken legs.

A fund has been set up for the children at Northwest Community Credit Union under Amanda Lucille Bowman’s name.
