Pilot injured when helicopter crashes on private timberland

CAMAS VALLEY, Ore. -- A helicopter crashed on private timberland Sunday, causing minor injuries to the pilot.

The Bell helicopter owned by Reforestation Services Inc. crashed on timberland owned by Plum Creek in the Camas Valley area. A call came in reporting the crash at 8:31 p.m. Sunday. The helicopter was spraying private property at the time of the crash.

Pilot David McDaniel, 46, of Bend, Ore., suffered minor injures and was taken to Mercy Medical Center by private vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.

The crash did not cause a fire.
