VENETA, Ore. -- A woman found injured in a cul-de-sac died from her injuries, and investigators now suspect a garbage truck may have hit her.

A neighbor found Anna Baker, 62, in the cul-de-sac of Forest Court in Veneta, Ore., Monday morning. Lane County Fire District #1 medical personnel were treating Baker's injuries when she died at the scene.

Witnesses told investigators with the Lane County Sheriff's Office that a truck was in the cul-de-sac picking up recycled material just before Baker was found injured.

The company made their driver and other company staff available to deputies in an effort to determine if the truck was involved.

The sheriff's office said no physical evidence has been identified to conclusively link Baker and the refuse truck as of Tuesday morning. The Oregon State Police are assisting the sheriff’s office with crash reconstruction investigation.

However, even if the investigation shows that the truck struck Baker, the sheriff’s office does not believe a basis for criminal charges against the driver exists.

The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information to call the sheriff’s office at (541) 682-4141.
