EUGENE, Ore. -- Four shots hit the U.S. District Courthouse in Eugene sometime overnight, and three hit and broke the windows of Congressman Peter DeFazio's office, the FBI said.

Investigators were on scene Thursday afternoon gathering evidence on a rainy afternoon.

The FBI is asking for anyone with information about the shots to call investigators in Eugene during normal business hours at (541) 343-5222 or the FBI in Portland 24 hours a day at (503) 224-4181.

At least four shots were fired at the building between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday. Three struck and broke the windows of Rep. DeFazio's office on the second floor of the building. A fourth bullet hit the wall of the building above Rep. DeFazio's office. The FBI said it is not known whether Rep. DeFazio's office was the intended target.

The bullets struck the side of the building that faces Mill Street. The FBI is not releasing the type of ammunition used at this time.

Beth Anne Steele with the FBI said she was not sure if the building had surveillance video. She said the FBI did not have any available to release at this time.
