National award comes to Eugene man for his tireless efforts for kids
He's everyone's friend and has been a fixture at a South Eugene drug store for more than 30 years.

For all his efforts to help premature babies and young kids, Buddy Hazelton is getting national recognition.

The long time Rite Aid store employee is going to Orlando, Florida next week to receive the Children's Miracle Network Volunteer Award.
Hazelton is one of just five volunteers nationwide to be recognized.

Hazelton, himself with a disability, explains, "I want to see all these kids walk and talk and sign and dance. I don't want to see them on tubes and that kind of stuff. You know, it's just me and just how I feel in my heart."

Hazelton hopes to raise $12-thousand this spring at his benefit sidewalk sale at Rite Aid, set to be held May 19Th and 20th. Call the store for more information on how to donate items.
