MILWAUKIE, Ore. (AP) — Milwaukie, Ore., police are investigating the case of a badly injured small dog that was put in a plastic bag and tossed in an apartment building's trash bin.

The dog was taken to an emergency vet clinic but was ultimately euthanized because of its serious head injuries. The dog had no tags or microchip.

Officer Kevin Krebs says an apartment resident found the dog late Sunday night when he was dumping his trash and heard a sound from inside the bin.
