EUGENE,Ore. -- Sgt. Karl Strong, a U.S. Marine, faced an important decision Thursday afternoon: Transformers or Star Trek?

Strong was one of several Marines, sailors and firefighters who filled cart after cart with toys at the Eugene Toys R Us store.  The action figures, dolls, guitars and other goodies picked out will go to Lane County children through this year's Toys for Tots program.

Strong's came down to this: "What I would play with."

He went with Transformers.

Last year, Toys for Tots gave 30,000 toys to 8,000 Lane County families.

"We're expecting there to be a higher need but we're hoping people also step up and donate a little more if you're fortunate enough to donate," said 1st Sgt. Alejandro Quiroz.
