Black Friday: 'I started shopping at 11:07 last night'
SPRINGFIELD, Ore -- The day after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest holiday shopping days of the year. For many people, it's also the earliest. Hundreds of Black Friday shoppers packed Lane County stores early Friday morning.
The line was long, and the sun wasn't even up yet. Target in Springfield opened its doors at five am sharp. It's a dream come true for bargain hunters and longstanding tradition for many.
"I'm a veteran of six years doing this," said Chris Brokopp.
Some spent the night waiting for the doors open.
"I got here at eight o'clock p.m. last night," said Francisco Garcia.
Others were store-hopping.
"I started shopping at 11:07 last night," said Paula Elliot.
It was a similar scene over at best buy and more organized chaos.
"This is actually the busiest I've experienced it at Best Buy," said General Manager Phil Colby.
"It was a lot faster than we thought it would be," said shopper Lindsey Weir.
Weir said she only waited in line for five minutes. Shoppers filtered out the double doors as fast as they flew in. Their carts were mostly full, and many wishes were granted.
