LYONS, Ore. -- A Veneta man was seriously injured when his fully loaded log truck tipped over in a turn and collided with another loaded log truck Wednesday morning.

Dennis D. Kloehn, 67, of Veneta, Ore., was seriously injured in the crash on Highway 226 between Lyons and Scio, Ore.

Rescue crews pulled him from the wreckage and took him to Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, where his condition has been upgraded from critical to serious and stable, police said.
Kloehn was eastbound on Hwy 226 around 11:34 a.m. driving for Weyerhaeuser when his truck tipped over on its side while traveling through a right curve in the road, police said. As the truck tipped over, it collided with another truck driven by Oscar Vasfaret, 62, of Sweet Home, Ore.
Vasfaret received non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Lebanon Community Hospital. He was driving for Brian Miller Logging.

The highway remained closed most of the day while Oregon State Police finished the investigation and the highway department coordinated removal of the trucks and logs.
