57th Annual Springfield Christmas Parade
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Springfield.
Thousands of people lined the streets for the 57th Annual Christmas Parade, coordinated by the Springfield Community Parade Corp. Led by the Lane County Sheriffs mounted posse, the parade was full of fanfare, marching bands and dancers.
Superman took over Santa's sleigh. Tigger took the helms of a hot rod. Other guests included longtime radio host Bill Barrett.
Celebrating 57 years as the "oldest and coldest" parade in Oregon, this year's "A Holiday for Heroes" theme took parade goers from its start at Centennial and Mohawk streets to its end at Pioneer Parkway and Main Street.
The floats were festive, though - in keeping with its "coldest" reputation - there was a distinct chill in the air. Kids warmed up by chasing candy and bundling in blankets.
