Eugene - A Eugene woman is dead tonight, after her bicycle was hit by car in southwest Eugene.

Police say the driver of the Volvo, 43-year-old Phillip James Miller had a medical condition which caused the car to weave in and out of traffic on West 18-Th near City View.

The driver struck a bicyclist, 42-year-old Elaine Lenore Shotridge, trapping her bike under the car. The Volvo also hit a pole and a Honda. Police say Shotridge later died at the hospital.

"Right now we don't know if this is going to be a prosecutable crime or if this is going to be something that they're gonna rule that there's not going to be a prosecution on it just kinda all depends on how this is all going to play out," says Ben Hall with Eugene Police.

Police say the driver of the Honda escaped un-injured, the driver of the Volvo was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center. West 18Th avenue is back open tonight.
