$500 reward for poacher who killed pregnant deer
PAULINA, Ore. -- Poachers illegally killed four female deer -- two of them pregnant -- and left their bodies to waste in Central Oregon after spotlighting the animals from the road, Oregon State Police believe.
The Oregon Hunter's Association has offered a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
According to OSP Senior Trooper Amos Madison, on Jan. 9, 2010, a rancher in the Rager area east of Paulina contacted OSP to report he found two deer that had been shot. The rancher said the deer were not there the previous afternoon.
Investigators discovered two more deer illegally killed and left to waste.
All four were does, and at least two were pregnant, state police said.
Madison believes the deer were shot from Pruitt Road, most likely in the late afternoon or early evening of Jan. 8 with the use of a spotlight.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Senior Trooper Madison at (541) 419-1654.
