Girl, 18, injured in crash on Hwy 126 near Vida
VIDA, Ore. -- An 18-year-old Vida-area girl was seriously injured Saturday morning when her sedan collided with a pickup truck on Highway 126.
Jennifer Leigh Hanchett, 18, of Vida, Ore., was taken by ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital at RiverBend.
The crash happened as Hanchett pulled out from Goodpasture Road to take a left and head west on Highway 126. Her 1996 Saturn sedan collided with a eastbound 1999 Ford pickup driven by Charles Jules De Sully III, 33, of Springfield, Ore.
After the crash, De Sully was able to move the pickup from the road. He was not injured, police said.
A Lane County Sheriff's Deputy was in the area and provided first aid to Hanchett until McKenzie Fire and Rescue arrived. Police said Hanchett was using safety restraints.
OSP troopers from the Springfield Area Command office were assisted by the Lane County Sheriff's Office, McKenzie River Fire and Rescue, and ODOT.
The highway was limited to one lane of travel for approximately 2 hours.
