Miss Oregon suits up, scores $1K scholarship
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Miss America Pageant organizers say contestants from Oregon and Michigan have won awards during preliminary competitions in Las Vegas.
Miss Michigan Nicole Blaszczyk won a $2,000 scholarship Thursday night for her dance performance to Beth Hart's "Lifetime."
Miss Oregon CC Barber won $1,000 during the swimsuit competition after strutting the stage in a black bikini.
The composite scores from the preliminary competitions count 30 percent toward the final competition, to be held Saturday night at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
Besides the talent and swimsuit competitions, the contestants also are judged on a private interview, an on-stage question and an evening gown competition.

Miss Michigan Nicole Blaszczyk was named Thursday night's preliminary talent winner for her lyrical dance performance to "Lifetime," during the last preliminary night of competition of the 2010 Miss America Pageant at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Nicole will receive a $2,000 scholarship. Also in the spotlight was Miss Oregon CC Barber, who was the preliminary Lifestyle and Fitness winner in a black Winnwear swimsuit. CC will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
