Eugene man jailed after fiery car chase dies at hospital
James Emary of Eugene died Monday after being in the Klamath County Jail.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- A Eugene man jailed Sunday after he led police on a high speed chase only to have his car burst into flames died Monday morning after being rushed from the jail to the hospital in Klamath Falls, Ore., with unknown medical problems.

James Emary, 39, was pronounced dead at Sky Lakes Medical Center in Klamath Falls, Ore., Monday morning.

Deputies at the Klamath County Jail called an ambulance at 6 a.m. after noticing Emary appeared to be in medical distress. An ambulance took Emary to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy is being scheduled to aid in the investigation. The sheriff's office said Emary was jailed alone in a cell and there was no indication of foul play.

Emary was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after a brief high speed chase that ended with his car fully engulfed in flames.
