Police: Man attacked with hammer at shopping mall
SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Salem police arrested a 20-year-old man accused of hitting another man with a hammer.
The incident occurred Wednesday night at Lancaster Mall.
Mall security detained Carlos Crespo of Salem until police arrived. He is charged with assault and menacing.
The injured man required stitches for a head wound, but did not require an ambulance.
Police Lt. Mark Keagle told the Statesman Journal the two men knew each other and had been in a dispute over family issues.
