Woman struck, killed by semi on I-5
SEATTLE -- A woman who walked onto Interstate 5 early Tuesday morning was fatally struck by a semi truck in the northbound lanes in South Seattle.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Christina Martin said the woman staggered into traffic about 12:51 a.m. near mile marker 158.
Martin said the truck driver tried to swerve out of the way, but his trailer hit the woman and knocked her in front of another car.
Both drivers stopped and were not injured.
Troopers are checking a Lexus that was found abandoned near the scene, but it was not clear if it belonged to the woman who was killed.
Her name has not been released.
