9-1-1 caller reports cougar and cub at Maurie Jacobs Park
A 9-1-1 caller reported seeing a cougar Friday near the entrance of Maurie Jacobs Park in Eugene.

EUGENE, Ore. -- A caller reported seeing a mountain lion and its cub at Maurie Jacobs Park to emergency dispatchers Friday morning, Eugene Police said.

Police dispatch received a 9-1-1 call at around 6:20 a.m. Friday from someone on their way to work that reported seeing a cougar playing around with its cub near the entrance to Maurie Jacobs Park.

The entrance is close to the Parkside Community Preschool.

Officers responded to the park, however they couldn't find any evidence the cat had been there.

Brian Wolfer of the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife said their department also responded and haven't been able to confirm what the person saw was a mountain lion or cougar.
