OSP: Man found unconscious behind wheel of stolen police car

MOUNT ANGEL, Ore. - An 18 year old found unconscious behind the wheel of a stolen sheriff's patrol car faces drunk and reckless driving charges, according to Oregon State Police.

An Oregon State Police trooper arrested Nikita N. Efimov Jr., 18, of Silverton, Ore., on suspicion of

  • Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants
  • Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
  • Reckless Driving
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person

The investigation started Saturday, April 10, around 11 p.m.

OSP Trooper Jason Perrizo was patrolling in the Mount Angel area when he was told by a Mount Angel police officer that they had a report of a recklessly driver in a white Ford Mustang on Highway 214. 

About 20 minutes later, Trooper Perrizo was driving north on Highway 214 near Bonney Road when he spotted a parked white vehicle marked "Marion County Sheriff's Office Traffic Team Ford Mustang." 

Thinking he was going to contact a deputy in the patrol car, he drove along side it and saw a lone male passed out in the driver's seat.

Based on subsequent investigation, statee police said Monday taht Efimov had stolen the patrol car from an off-duty deputy's Silverton-area residence.

Marion County Sheriff's Office retrieved their vehicle from the arrest scene.
