NEAR FLORENCE, Ore --- A woman was shot in the stomach with a shotgun early Sunday morning south of the city of Florence. Oregon State Police said the incident happened around 1 a.m. in the 84000 block of Green Gate Road, near Honeyman State Park.
Police said a 27-year-old woman was shot following an argument. Her 26-year-old boyfriend was struck in the head with the gun, but not shot. Sgt. Andrew Kenyon of the Oregon State Police said the woman's 4-year-old daughter witnessed the shooting.
The male victim grabbed his girlfriend and her child and drove to a nearby gas station and called 9-1-1, OSP said.
Police are now looking for two persons of interest in the case. Both lived at the residence where the shooting happened.
The persons of interest are Victor Glen Caron, 46, and Tanya Mintey, 40. They are believed to have left the home in a 2000 Dodge Durango SUV with Oregon license plate 811 DSW. Both are described as white adults with ties to Nevada and California.
Kenyon said the victims were visiting the suspects at their rented home the morning of the shooting.
"They were friends and had actually been out here visiting the suspects that live here and apparently there was alcohol involved and some type of a dispute and argument and things got out of control," Kenyon said.
The female was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Springfield with serious injuries. OSP said they are not releasing the names of the victims at this time. Kenyon said the woman had stomach surgery Sunday evening and may have to have surgery to save her arm. The male victim was treated and released.
