Orphan from Egypt returns home with fond memories of Eugene
NORTHWEST EUGENE - It's time for an orphan from Egypt to return to his homeland. Back in July, we met George Wagdy who came to Oregon as a volunteer at Eugene's Camp Harlow. We talked to George today about what his time in the U.S. has meant to him.
The 20-year old has spent most his life at the "Helwan Boys Evangelical Orphanage" in Cairo, Egypt but after his first summer in Eugene, George says he's learned what a strong connection he has with kids and their faith. He says, "They would tell me about their stories and some of their stories were really tough and I haven't been through these. And then their decision to follow God really encouraged me a lot."
George flies back to Egypt next Wednesday.
