ROSEBURG, Ore. - Parents kept their kids inside Friday so they wouldn't have to wonder what the police tape means or why the Oregon State Police Crime Lab was in the neighborhood.

Joy Mayorga can see the crime scene from her back porch.

"I just think of that little girl," she said.

Just a few yards away from her porch is the duplex where police say someone raped and murdered a 5-year-old girl.

"It's just wrong," Mayorga said.

The little girl's mom called 911 just before 5 a.m. Friday after finding the girl unresponsive, but it was too late. The little girl was already dead.

A few hours later, Roseburg police arrested 16-year-old Dustin Michael Wallace. He will face charges as an adult, including aggravated murder, rape and sex abuse. Investigators say the girls' mother is dating Wallace's father. Police have not released the cause of death. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

The arrest isn't much comfort for neighbors, all with sons and daughters of their own.

"I just hope justice is done by her," Mayorga said. "That's all. That they get the right person - and the right things happen to that person."
