EUGENE, Ore. -- One more week until the Lane County Fair hits the fairgrounds and preparations got underway Wednesday as trucks started arriving with the entertainment.
Tents started popping up and trucks brought rides to the fairgrounds, and crews got to work setting up what organizers called a 'tent city'. Most of the vendor tents are expected to be set up by Saturday while the tents for the main attraction won't arrive until Sunday or Monday.
Arriving with the last rides and tents are the animals, with some new additions this year. The carnival tent will feature a new act dubbed 'A Walk on the Wild Side', which features rescue and exotic animals.
Rachel Bevins with the Lane Events Center said that with acts lined up like Weird Al Yankovic, Heart and the All-American rejects, every day promises to be fun at the fairgrounds.
"We think that we've scheduled all days worth of entertainment so you can come in on any of our great days ... we've got a lot of daily specials." Bevins said. "You'll be entertained from start to finish!"
There are season passes offered for the Lane County Fair so carnival-goers can enjoy the excitement each day.
Another way to see the fair from beginning to end is to fill one of the remaining positions that the fair has open. While several hundred jobs with Funtastic Shows (The carnival company) have been filled but there are still many more open. Visit their website to apply for open positions.
