EUGENE, Ore. - Maybe your favorite stretch of riverfront needs some TLC, or trashers have made a mess of your favorite beach.

Or maybe you just want to do your part to turn the tide on the waves of tsunami debris from Japan already washing up on Oregon's show.

SOLVE is seeking applications from volunteers for community projects in support of the annual Beach and Riverside Cleanup.

These project events will take place across the state on Saturday, September 22nd from 9am-1pm.

The deadline for applications is Friday, July 13.

This is your opportunity to become a SOLVE project leader and to apply for assistance for your local volunteer project. SOLVE provides free project planning assistance and training, event flyers and pre-event publicity, online volunteer registration, and cleanup project supplies.

SOLVE also has a limited number of small grants of up to $100 for reimbursement of qualifying project expenses.

SOLVE Beach and Riverside Cleanup provides volunteer opportunities to take care of our parks, waterways and neighborhoods by picking up trash, pulling invasive weeds, planting trees and other watershed enhancement activities.

"Dig in and find your inner Oregonian," says Executive Director Melisa McDonald. "The Oregon Ethic is so wonderfully unique to our state. To see thousands of volunteers from all walks of life take part in keeping Oregon beautiful is truly inspiring and rewarding."

Apply online or call SOLVE for a hard copy form at 503-844-9571 or 1-800-333-SOLV (toll-free in Oregon).
