Barn fire kills 30 pigs in McMinnville
MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Thirty pigs died Wednesday morning in a barn fire in McMinnville, firefighters said.
Crews responded to a reported barn fire at 14670 Southwest Oldsville Road at around 3 a.m. When they arrived, firefighters said the barn was fully engulfed in flames and they could not go inside.
No one was hurt, but 30 pigs died in the fire. Investigators said a heat lamp that was being used to keep stalls warm in anticipation of the birth of new piglets caused the blaze.
The total damage is estimated at $10,000.
