Bicyclist breaks leg in crash with pickup

VENETA, Ore. - A bicyclist suffered a broken leg in a collision with a pickup towing a trailer Tuesday afternoon.

An air ambulance took cyclist Jacob Dwayne Hollingsworth, 31, from the scene of the crash on Territorial Highway near Suttle Road in Veneta. State police said Hollingsworth broke his leg and had serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, Ponyboy Gilbert, 40, of Veneta went to the hospital on his own.

Gilbert was driving a pickup towing a trailer when the crash happened around 1:26 p.m.

No charges or citations have been filed in the crash, state police said.
