SALEM, Ore. -- Investigators confirmed the identity of a deceased man found alongside Highway 99E north of Salem on Thursday afternoon, Oregon State Police said.
At around 1 p.m. Thursday police officials said that a body was found along the shoulder of Highway 99E near Labish Garden Rd NE, north of Salem.
Responding troopers and detectives investigated the scene to determine the cause of death. Investigators were able to confirm the man's identity.
State police added that there were no obvious signs indicating that the man was the victim of a crime or hit by a car.
The man's name is being withheld pending a next-of-kin notification.
The Oregon Department of Transportation reported that the north lane of Highway 99E (or Portland Rd.) was blocked at Labish Garden Rd. while Oregon State Police conduct the investigation. Traffic was slowed in the area for a few hours while crews worked the scene.
