Body found on coast may be Veneta man

GOLD BEACH, Ore. - A beachcomber found a body believed to be a Veneta man who was swept into the ocean last year.

Kevin Anton, 48, vanished into the ocean Dec. 30, 2011, near the mouth of Hunter Creek as he attempted to save his dog from the rough surf.

The Curry County Sheriff's Office believes they have recovered Anton's body.

The medical examiner is still working to confirm the identity of the white man found dead Friday morning 2 1/2 miles south of where Anton was last seen.
