EUGENE, Ore. - Crews recovered a man's body from the Willamette River on Christmas Day.

Police identified the deceased as Richard Hans Kay, 67, of Eugene. Investigators said Kay's death was not the result of a criminal act.

A driver on I-105 spotted something in the river and pulled over, using binoculars to identify the object as a possible human body, police said.

Rescuers pulled the body from the river not far from the Washington-Jefferson Street Bridge.

The firefighters worked out on the water as temperatures hovered around 34F on a foggy Christmas Day.
