Boy, 10, dies in crash; mother and brother injured »Play Video

PORTLAND, Ore. – A 10-year-old boy was killed and his mother and brother were injured in a crash on Southwest Canyon Road Sunday evening that police said my involve a driver under the influence.

In a press release, Beaverton Police said a Toyota Prius was headed westbound on Southwest Canyon Road at about 7:45 p.m. when a Chevy Avalanche, traveling eastbound, crossed the center line, side-swiped the Toyota and collided with an Acura TL sedan.

The Prius sustained only slight damage and the driver was not hurt. 

The driver and others in the Avalanche were also not injured.

Police said the fatality took place in the Acura.

The deceased boy’s mother is reportedly in critical condition while his 15-year-old brother had minor injuries.

The identities of the deceased and injured persons have not been released.

Police said officers at the scene noticed signs of “alcohol impairment” and an investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Police identified the driver of the Chevy Avalanche as Paige Couch, 38, of Vancouver (pictured above). She was arrested for Assault IV, Assault III and Manslaughter II and taken to the Washington County Jail.
