BANDON, Ore. -- A star from the CBS hit soap opera The Young & the Restless is on the south coast.
You know her as 'Gloria' on the show, but Judith Chapman is now playing a different role: Strong but damaged woman Vivian Leigh. "Vivian is probably known to be a little more refined than my crazy Gloria, but in reality, Vivian was a wildcat," Chapman said.
Chapman is playing that wildcat in the one woman play in Bandon at the Sprague Theater.
It's the first stop in the play's centennial tour across the country. "We're starting in the pacific northwest and Vivian is just going to be Sherman's march across the country, but to start in the pacific northwest, which I love so much, I love it here," she said.
She's no stranger to the stage, Chapman started her own theater company and played Vivian once before.
Chapman hopes bringing the character to Bandon will put a national spotlight on the town. "So, the power of soap operas, the power of soap magazines and dot coms... so, word's out, we know where Bandon is!"
Another bonus: it's the perfect Valentine's gift for your sweetheart.
The performances are on Saturday, February 16 at 7pm and Sunday, February 17 at 2pm. The matinee on Sunday will have a reception afterward, where you can meet and chat with her.
