Car hits and kills 1 pedestrian, injures another

ROSEBURG, Ore. - One pedestrian died and another remains hospitalized after being hit by a car Tuesday night, Roseburg Police said.

The crash happened around 10:45 p.m. as Shaun E. Lowry, 32, of Roseburg drove southbound on Lookingglass Road.

The car hit two pedestrians who were walking southbound on the road.

One of the pedestrians, Amanda S. Bell, 24, of Myrtle Creek died from her injuries at Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg.

Shawnacy E. Hyatt, 37, of Roseburg was taken by air ambulance to Oregon Health Sciences University, where he is in stable but critical condition, police said.

Lowry was not injured.

The road remained closed overnight until 8:45 a.m.

The Roseburg Police Department and Oregon State Police are continuing the investigation.
