Car slides on ice, hits train
PRINEVILLE, Ore. - A driver suffered minor injuries when she braked too late and her car slid on ice into the side of a moving train, Oregon State Police said.
Norma R. Sharp, 59, of Prineville was taken by amublance to St. Charles Medical Center in Redmond for treatment of minor injuries. She was cited by state police for Failure to Stop for a Railroad Signal.
Her passenger Peter Sharp, 69, was not injured.
According to state police, Sharp was southbound approaching a railroad crossing around noon Monday.
A City of Prineville Railway train was approaching the crossing at the same time at about 10 mph.
The train's operator sounded a horn as the train approached the crossing, police said, but Sharp didn't notice the crossing or train until she got closer to the crossing, which is controlled by a yield sign.
When Sharp braked to try and stop, the car slid on ice and hit the side of the lead engine, police said.
What idiots roll a train through a icy crossing and why aren't they and the bought law makers allowing it not in a crow bar motel? The POS sign is not a signal even though the railroads have robbed us for millions for other signals that give warning.

Now why doesn't the media do the REAL story on how much the railroad robbed us for the POS passive sign in the picture and the legal reason WHY we put in new POS signs after a dirty Supreme Court decision.
I'm beginning to think that traffic accidents like this, and other minor problems that could indicate a person's response time isn't what it needs to be, should require the driver to have a driver's evaluation/'re-test.Â
