Cars run over live ammo littered on state highway
PLEASANT HILL, Ore. - Traffic set off rounds of ammunition scattered along Highway 58 on Friday morning, Oregon State Police said.
Police do not know how the hundreds of .22 caliber shells and a box of 30-caliber rifle ammo wound up on the shoulder and roadway of Hwy 58 just a mile east of Interstate 5.
Adjacent businesses reported hearing ammo discharging as motor vehicles ran over the bullets. No one was injured, and no damage was reported.
The Oregon Department of Transportation cleaned up the ammo without incident, police said.
More irresponsibility with deadly weapons.
@Baldr Odinson  At least firearms contain no misletoe...so you are safe.
@Baldr Odinson LOL. I guess you're going to be all about ammo control now too then?
Bet is was LEOâs going to/from the shooting range:
I found about 30 new bullets there awhile back, gathered them up and gave them to one coming off the shooting range by Short Mountain Landfill. I guess they open the box and leave them on the tailgate for quick re-loading. forgot to put them back before leaving.Â
@angelgabe Considering the caliber, that's not likely.
Sounds like contrived anti-second amendment propoganda...
@Paul Kersey. I love a good conspiracy theory as well as the next guy clinging to his guns and Bible (per Obama), but do you really think Baldr or a fellow traveler actually bought ammo and dumped it out on HWY 58?Â
Actually, that wohld be like a Moslem or Orthodox Jew touching pork!
Baldr Odinson, do you care to comment on this story?
@11bravo She's too buisy studying up on the comunist manifesto at the moment...
We need to ban these high-capacity semi-automatic automobiles before they wreak any more damage to our society, and restrict their use to military and law enforcement use.Â
If the democrats hurry they can pass legislation and prevent further rubber tire discharges of discarded ammo!!!
I didn't realize that rubber-tired vehicles would do that...must be rimfire .22?
@hewhoo article does not say which rounds discharged.  My guess would be the primer initiated .30 cal. Good lesson why ammo boxes are good invention.
@hewhoo: Good call, since that's what it says in the article.
Sounds like a Mythbuster-worthy article? I don't think you could duplicate that in a million years?
