Kasper the cat lies in intensive care at the Animal Emergency Center in Bend, Ore. Thursday Sept. 13, 2012. When a fire raged through the Deschutes River Woods home of his owners, Beau and Diann Hollowell, on Monday, Kasper survived by jumping out a window. The Hollowells and their 5-year-old son Tristan, were away when the fire started. Kasper lost nearly all of his hair to the flames and suffered blisters on the soft tissue of his paws and ears. His prognosis is good, but he may need weeks of additional veterinary care. Visit www.31paws.org to donate to Kasper's treatment. (AP Photo/The Bulletin, Rob Kerr).
