As former member of the Navy Police we had a lot of Sea Cadets ages from 14 to 18. We had one of member charged with sex abuse. I never knew if he did it or not. I can say the young lady age of 16 said a lot of things that should not have been said out of 16 year old. However I knew better then acting on them. This member of the Coast Guard is 20, she 15 case closed if he did off to prison he should go. He knows better. On top of every thing this is going to Cost the Coast Guard millions of dollars This sounds like she was member of some Sea Cadet program and that is how they met.
I would love to be on that jury. There is no way I would convict him based on her denying him permission. I call BS! They were together and while he should've known better, she needs to take responsibility for her actions also.
@Stacey Gotta disagree with you on this one. 20 and 15 is already a pretty big age stretch, and if she didn't specifically seek out intimate contact, the finger points at him for manipulating her into it. Situations like this are exactly why we have statuatory rape charges, and from what is written in this article, including the fact that he furnished her with alcohol, it is pretty clear that he should be charged with this crime.
