CORVALLIS, Ore. - A study of American cities with populations under 150,000 concluded Corvallis is the most secure small city in America, Farmers Insurance said.
The study compiled by quality of life expert Bert Sperling of www.bestplaces.net took into consideration a number of criteria, including economic stability, crime statistics, extreme weather, risk of natural disasters, housing depreciation, foreclosures, air quality, environmental hazards, life expectancy, motor vehicle fatalities, and employment numbers.
Corvallis has made the list before: No. 9 in 2010 and No. 5 in 2011.
The Willamette Valley community, home to the Oregon State Beavers, likely got a boost from its other BestPlaces rankings this year.
Best Places named Corvallis No. 1 among Safest Places from Natural Disasters and No. 3 among Best Green Cities.
