COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. - The city shut down Cottage Grove Speedway last summer after it failed to meet city requirements.

Now it's a new season, and the speedway has new owners.

The City of Cottage Grove said the speedway has the green light to reopen.

New owner Jerry Schram has been working with the city on making improvements to the speedway, like adding emergency exits and getting building permits.

Speedway staff said they're excited about a new season.

"It's very exciting," said Heather Boyce, the speedway general manager. "Definitely was in need of a little TLC, and it's nice to be able to be giving it what it needs now."

Other improvements will be gradual and will include updates to box seating, bleacher cleanup and moving the concession stands.
