SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Was that a cougar? If you live in Springfield, the answer is "quite possibly."

An employee who works in the area of 31st & Pierce Parkway near the National Guard Armory called police 2 weeks ago and said several of his employees had seen a full-size cougar near the north boundary of the National Guard Armory complex, police said.

Several people reported seeing a big cat cross 31st Street near a mobile home park into the large field at 28th & Marcola street.

Police in Springfield said the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildife indicated they have received reports of recent sightings in this area.

Law enforcement in Prinveville, Oregon, recently shot and killed 2 cougars in a populated area.
